EX suspension on EF?
In my desperate attempt to get in one more clean fast lap in my persuit of Bob Stretch's ITA track record at Hallett (I came within 0.01, can you believe that crap?) I managed to loop the car hard off the track, bending something on the passenger rear suspension. I can't tell what, everything looks straight, but I have just enough positive camber that you can see it with the naked eye. Seems that would have to be in the upper arm or where it connects to the spindle/hub, but I visually can't tell. A local shop has a dead 1990 EX sitting in their lot that I can have if I just drop it off at the salvage yard when I'm done. He thinks the EX stuff is identical to the EF Hatch, can anyone confirm this? If so I'll just take everything off the EX and see if that takes care of me.
thanks
thanks
i'm not sure about the rear stuff, but...
the front spindles are different (brakes are different) and i'm looking for a pair. if you pull the rear stuff off and grab the front spindles i'll gladly pay you for the parts and your time.
if you haven't already, put your post up in the ef forum. you'll get your answer pretty quick there i think.
a bent lca is shorter (positive camber)
a bent subframe can have similar effects too, but if you get it up in the air you can usually tell if the subframe is tweaked.
is the toe visually correct?

According to my honda parts cd, the trailing arm, upper arm & compensator all have the same parts numbers. The lower arms have different parts numbers. this is for the 1990 ex & si, btw

That would make sense, since I don't believe any US sedan came from the factory with a rear sway bar (or more simply only the CRX/Civic Si's came with one). So the difference in the LCA p/n would be one with threaded endlink hole or lack thereof. Which might be important if that is what is bent and you have a rear sway bar that utilizes the stock endlink mounting point.

This is my bet too. When I tagged the wall with the rear, I could not see anything that was bent, but I had a bit of toe out. A honda mechanic showed me on the back of the trailing arm that there was a faint mark/dimple right where the spindle connects. I guess when the rear suspension gets hit, this is the most common "injury".

i think the front passenger side is pretty smashed up, but I can check and see if anything on the front end is salvagable if I end up picking this thing up (still going to check at some local salvage yards)

toe was definitely OUT.
thanks everyone else, I'll check in EF forum to confirm as well

thanks, and good luck with the parts find.

Hit me up next time you make it over to Hallet.

Well the EX fell through. Doesn't a '90 CRX Si have the same rear bits aside from being disc brakes? Looks like I can get my hands on a Si shell... not sure what I will do with the rest of the thing when I'm done.

May 21st-22nd... SCCA race. Plus Todd and *hopefully* some others are doing the SCCA PDE for $100... really good deal. Anyone near Hallett should check it out

Yes, everything is identical. Only difference is the hub assembly itself for discs. Trailing arm is the same.
