HELP... GSR will not start
I have a 95 gsr with a clifford alarm. Car has been parked in my garage for 2 mths cause of the winter and yesterday I tried to start up my car and it would't start. Battery was dead so I tried to boost it with a battery charger for a few minutes once I turned the key car siren went off. I couldn't turn off the alarm with my transmitter so I had to wait until the battery went dead again. What should I do now? Could someone please help? Thanks!
u need to disarm your alarm. Cliffords has a valet switch, you need to push in the code while the alarm is going off.
OR you can just yank out the POS clifford and put something else in

My best recommendation is to totally disconnect the battery if you are going away on vacation, even if its only for two weeks, and this is why....I've left my car in the garage for like 2+ weeks, with the alarm on valet mode and my Sears Die Hard Battery still went dead. I've changed the battery so many times with sears guarantee that they eventually told me "Just disconnect the battery" and that the battery has a "Long shelf life when disconnected"
That way whicle you are gone for so long it wont have anything draining the power from the battery. When I go on long vacations, I totally disable my car so that it wont have any juice, or any way of starting....

if you like cliffords i have a 900 iq brain, wirloom and ignition kill, all for sale. The 900 iq was the best brain made by them. Perfect working order. Its the one you can wire into your cell phone system i also have the siren thingy too

Hahaha!!! The EXACT SAME THING happened to me last year! The kicker was, my clicker was dead, so I couldn't shut it off! It was in the garage, so the alarms was three times louder than normal. There I was, -5 degrees, rumaging around my glovebox for the manual so I could get the code to shut it off.
The alarm has since died completely, and I can't figure out how to ge it back. But no biggie. The thing would go off with a stiff breeze, and the brian that was supposed to keep it from going off more than once due to the same stimulus never worked right. It was a pain.
Speaking of pain, I ffel yours, man.
Have fun!

Yah, my siren sounded louder than ever in my garage. If I disconnect the battery and charge it out of the car and reconnect again will my problem be solved. Also, has this problem effected my OB1 ECU.

I have a clifford but, it was already installed in my car when I got it. never really cared to see what that "1-2" button thing was all about.
Then again I've only had the car for a month.
i think when the battery goes dead.. your suppose to turn the ignition switch to ON position and then reconnect the battery.. the alarm thinks a theif is trying to disconnect the battery and then reconnect it or something...
put your alarm in valet mode when it goes off.. that will also shut it off.. if your not using your car for an extended period of time its best to disconnect the battery or else the alarm will drain it and kill it..
you may also need to reprogram your remote.. i dunno..

the one i had doesnt work, you can order them from dei still i think
Ok...i don't know about the advice these people are giving.
You need to find out how to put your car in valet. And you have to do it right when you connect the battery. Your transmitter might not work when you power up because the programmed memory on the Clifford unit that says your transmitter can control it might be lost, so therefore you might need to reprogram your transmitter. This is all easy stuff, the PDF manuals should be able to be found on the net...to program it's usually a combination of turning your car to the on/off position and flicking the valet switch so I would'nt pay someone big cash to do it
Good Luck

Um.. doesn't DEI now own clifford. I believe so.
IMO Cliffords are much better than the DEI. The qaulity of the alarm has a lot to do with the installer. That is why Clifford was the first to not allow the normal consumer to have the wiring diagrams. They new most consumers have now idea what they are doing. The didn't want to get a bad rep beacause of faulty installers. I don't care what kind of alarm you have. If it was installed crapy which probably 85% are, then you have a crapy alarm no matter how much you paid. I had my clifford 900 IQ on my old integra for three years never once had a problem. I installed this myself. I had a friend who paid $2000. for his alarm installed on the same type of car. His car got stolen three times in one month. A good installer can turn a crapy alarm into a very good alarm. A crapy installer can turn an exellent alarm in a pile of poo poo. So much rides on the installer.
I am an electrical engineer, and IMO the Cliffords are designed better and more well thought out. Not to knock DEI they do have good alarms.
To answer the original question.
Your battery is not charged enough to start the car. When you under power the alarm you can not garuntee the way it will preform. Try letting the battery charge for a while before you start it or operate the alarm. If you are unable to do this try to disconnect the alarm power wires first. Then charge the battery up completely, then reconnect the alarm and try starting. Good luck.

btw, if anyone is from the Texas area and is familiar with Earmark (near Dallas I believe) plz get me the contact info. I've heard that they still sell Clifford remotes for the 900IQ.
