I did a variety of searches and came up with out anything.

quick question. Would a cage for a same year hatchback fit into a coupe with little or no modification at all?

Let me guess, your "friend" is building a '96 Civic for ITA also?

What happened to the Jamaican guy who builds cages for Heinekens?

Maybe you should specify which year hatch then.

I don't know the answer, but I can't imagine it would be too wise to put a mismatched cage in a race car...

I know for an EG the bars are completely different for hatches, coupes, and sedans. Sedans especially just plain will NOT work, the bar sits about 2 feet too far back, offering almost no protection for the driver.

Also, don't try swapping between EG and EK without modification, the EG has a lower roofline, so the main hoop is too low. In case that's anything you were thinking of.

Everything I learned about bolt in bars/cages when I used to have one, is that bars for coupes and hatchbacks are not the same. I shouldn't have to tell you that different chassis are different chassis, so 5th gen and 6th gen kits will not match.

Can it be modified? Anything's possible. You should probably email Ken at IO Port or talk to the cage manufacturer if you have questions about their parts. Sounds like a good idea to me.

well the cage that he was telling me about is an OMP kit. it's a weld in and has never been put in a car. it was thought modified out of the box so that it had the required diagonal bar that SCCA requires for the rear main hoops. and it came come an EK hatch( just got off the phone with him) and his civic is a '99 coupe.

thanks guys!
