Default Calling out those Dragg racer's " I know there are few but if u r read" And those who run Jun 3's

Well I love to drive road coarse and AutoX but where I live DRAGG is where it is at. I live near Fontana drag way and I am hooked on dragg racing. When I get my smashed up 99SI out of the body shop I am puting a B18C5 in with tranny IM TB long block ECU the entire swap.

SO what to you is the best set up for the track like bolt ons, Clutch, Flywheel, tires, wheels,

For those JUN 3 runners what is your set up motor wise and what WHP #'s are you putting down. I probably will keep the block stock and put in some JUN 3's with there ECU and valve train later if money and desire is still there. What do you think a stock bottom end B18C5 will put down with Jun 3's?

I have already perchaced the comtech ice box and intake and a EXedy organic Clutch. I need a good flywheel.

SO If you could help me out with some advise it would help out a great deal.

Thank's

Chris

RULE #1 always use the search function in the upper right (for this search ITR forum, archive results)
#2 JUN 3s compression - I would suggest OEM CTR pistons or Wiseco, at the least JDM ITR (is your B18c5 JDM or USDM & is the VIN legit)
#3 with stock compression & valvetrain & ECU I think at MOST 175 whp fully tuned(these cams make alot of power well above the stock redline)190 w/JUN valvetrain and ECU or 200-210 built (high compression P&P etc...)
#4 JUN 3s are going to suck *** if you leave the valvetrain stock, stock ECU, stock compression - you'd be better with just a JUN stage 2 intake cam & ITR exh cam
- BTW IMO skunk2 stage 3 cams will WALK all over Jun 3's - ImportReview got 222whp 157tq untuned

it sounds as though u wanna cut alot of corners.
if ur not gonna do it right..with the valvetrain, tuning and high cr pistons..then wait till u have all the cash.
like someone said in the previous reply...the III's make power above the stock redline...and although the ITR valvesprings can handle 9k rpm on ITR or CTR cams, they wouldnt be able to handle the aggressive characteristics of the JUN III's.

True... If your going to get the JUN III's, might aswell do it right or not do it at all. To me that is a whole lot of money to go half a$$. That's why I still havn't installed mine yet, now I need money to install it all.... LOL. Looking for a Toda flywheel though, I'll just be patient.

Ok let me clarify a little better I am going to get the JUN3 head package witch includes ECU all there valve train retainers, springs and the JUN 3's. I might put in the JDM ITR pistons to get the 11.1 instead of the 10.6 that the USDM puts out.

Yes the motor is lagit I bought it new from ACURA ( that is why I am broke as a joke)

The reason I want to leave the stock bottom end is because of CA emissions I already have had a run in with the REF " F#C*I@N# CHP " and If I get busted I can just take out the cams and it is stock again.

Would I be better off with the JUN2's instead because of the lack of compression.

I think with a stock bottom end 9500K redline and JUN ECU and the 3's it would make good power. I drove a 99 SI with stock bottom end with the JUN3 head package and it made 180 to the wheels with 2.5 exaust and AEM. SO I would say that the R could make a high 190 at the wheels properly tuned.

If your into drag racing your b18C5 with JunIII you may want to IM SIINSI aka miguel. That is the setup he is running with a few more Jun parts and he has been running low 13's.

tell...

I hear skunk2 stage 3 need a bunch of stuff to make them work without blowing up your valvetrain though.....and they are NOT streetable....and comments on this....im thinking of going stage 2 or 3 for my daily driver and ill be using ctr pistons with the head milled about 20 thousandths...about 12.2:1-12.3:1CR I love skunk stuff

Both cams like compression, but i'd go with JUN's, because they are more top end power. BTW if your looking for a set of JUN III's, i have some brand new for $875. Plus i'm not to far from riverside.

You can push push 190+ with JUN III's on an ITR bottom end easy. I made 216whp with a stock GSR bottom end. Of course i had quite a bit of other work considering i made 201whp with ITR cams before the Jun's went in. Hit me up if your interested.
