what is the difference between hf and dx
ok, i was told i had a dx. but i looked on autotrader and it said i should have a 16 valve. i have an 8 valve. is there any other differences in the models? i thought i seen that the wiring harness for hf is good for engine swaps......is that true?
appreciate the help

dx is 16 valve, your motor is not a D15b2, its probably a D15b6. look under the dizzy where the tranny meets the block for the code, it might be dirty just wipe the dirt away. D15b2 is dx motor 16 valve 92 hp; D15b6 is hf motor 8 valve 62 bhp.
HF and DX Differences. DX has Passenger side mirror and rear wiper. DX has Dual Point Fuel Injection, HF has Multipoint Fuel Injection. Knuckles and hubs are different (DX=Larger) and can fit Integra Axles when doing motor swaps. Seats are different. 88 DX HF has piller mounted seatbelts. 89 HF has piller mounted seat belts. 89-91 DX has pillar mounted seat belts.
You're welcome to finish what I started. I don't feel like searching either.
Oh, and always use your stock wiring harness that is on the motor in the vehicle.

Wow, you thought you had a DX and you end up having an Hf, what a great surprise. You don't have to do the MPFI wiring and you have a lighter car. I would be happy with that find.
So yes, the wiring harness for the hf would be a lot easier for an engine swap because you already have MPFI whereas he DX has DPFI. DPFI
for performance or engine swaps.

Don't worry, I once was in the same boat. I had a civic hatchback STD which was obdo and dpfi. I converted to mpfi and the only problem I ran into was a code 9, so i replaced the distributor and soldered new connections at the ecu and the problem was solved. MPFI is well worth it. I will soon be converting to obd1, I hope I had the same luck as I did when I converted to MPFI. Just search you will find every bit of information you ever needed on this forum to convert to mpfi, its fairl easy.
