Throttle Plate Sticks
Hello all,
How do I fix a sticking throttle plate? Couple days ago I took out the whole intake manifold including the throttle body and cleaned both thouroughly with carb cleaner.
The throttle plate was sticking before I cleaned it. It's still sticking though--even though it's a little bit less. How do I fix it? Would sanding with a high grit paper (say close to 1000) even out any irregularities that make it stick?
Thanks!

It could be your throttle cable that is sticking. Over time grease and dirt will accumulate inside of it and cause it to get stiff. But I wouldnt take sand paper to the inside of your throttle body. That is something for the pros to mess with.
I had that problem on my edelbrock tb, look up under the "wheel" that your throttle cable hooks to and there should be a screw/bolt that the wheel sits on when the throttle is closed. You need to back it out just a tad so that it wont let the throttle plate close so far
That screw thingy fixed it!
Maybe this should be added to the FAQ since when I was searching I didn't see anyone mention this little screw/bolt thingy and most people were sanding their throttle bodies and having idle problems afterwards.
Thanks boostinhatch!

no problem, you may have to put a little loc tite in it to hold it in place( had to do mine, because turbo and solid mounts and all kinds of other good things cause lots of vibration)
