unhooking ac belt
I know that it won't do much. From my understanding, there will be a few moving parts, maybe as much as a flywheel that you can save energy by not moving. The AC is engaged by a clutch system.
By the way, if you're going to disconnect your AC, are you ever going to use it again? You might consider removing it to save weight, even if you're doing this for daily driving. Less mass means better MPG especially in stop and go traffic.

the only good taking off the AC belt, is to reduce drag of 1 sealed bearing. its not worth it..
the only reason "racers" remove AC, is for weight, and never wants that drag of HP. the engine turning over 1 tiny sealed bearing isn't going to make a differance. the only HP robbing factor would be if you race wtih the AC on.. and thats a no brainer.

if your gunna remove the a/c to reduce weight, you should remove everything including the compressor and condensor and the hoses since the system will be useless.
