Lowering car = No insurance...WTF..
Now I just got insurance on my civic today and when I was talking to the insurance company they asked if there was any mods or if it was lowered, which I haven't really done anything to it yet aside from stereo, rims and minor cosmetics...They said if I lower my car they will cancel my insurance, and this makes no sense??? If your car is lowered properly then it actually is better handling due to lower center of gravity....I think the insurance is doing this to try and stop street racing and stop people from modding their cars as they assume mods = street racer....not sure if I was going to lower it in the future but now I can tell you I am not... :s
well alot of people who lower thier cars do not compensate thier driving habits to accomodate. hit potholes, run over stuff, or whatever will damage a lowered car more than a un modified car and cause insurance claims. they are doin it to protect you from unnecessary claims and higher insurance.
plus better handling means going faster around turns

I don't think any insurance company could match the rate I get from them otherwise that would be an option, I have been with them since I started driving, for full coverage I pay $1000 CDN every 6 mo....which equates to about $800US...

I don't know anyone who puts in claims because they hit potholes, you file claim they raise your premium....and you still pay your deductible...
That insurance company sounds like a piece of ****. By the sounds of it, they're the type that put all kinds of excuses and try to make everything your fault to get out of paying your claims.. Finding policy loopholes and ****.
Be carefull.

I guess they reserve the right to cancel any insurance policy. Bottom line is they are ******, but an insurance company is there to make money like any other company and they have to protect themselves from things that might prevent them from making the profits that they want. That's business. Do you have anything else insurred with them like other cars or a house (you or your parents) if so you may be able to influence their decision by threatening to remove all the policies that you have with them.

Statefarm, they are actually pretty good when paying out money, and fast...My brother has had 3 cars written off, another broken into and stolen whole system, ripped doors to get speakers, busted trunk and spoiler to get into the trunk, and everytime he has gotten more money from them then he had paid....and like I said price is cheap but I find these things gay...
I agree desigi except for one reason, mcdonalds is there to make money but no one has to eat there, it is the LAW to have insurance, you can't choose not to unless you want to face a fine and first offense is min $5,000

I think it might be your agent that's a piece of crap then... My friend has his 99 Si insured with them and that thing is dumped. He even made a claim not too long ago because he hit a piece of tire on I95 and it screwed up his bumper and they paid no problem.

if you can and its REALLY that big of an issue like you cant switch insurance..
see if you can put the stock springs/struts or whatever you have lowering the car put the stock stuff back on and then go back and have them insure you then lower it again? kinda seems like a pain in the *** though but thats what i suggest if they will not insure you while it is lowered

Very good point, do you have an insurance broker? He could check out other insurance companies for you. If they are being this ****, then I suggest to start looking for another company that might be a little more open minded.

Damn
(I have statefarm too) They don't know it's lowered though.
But they are good about getting your **** back though. I got my stereo back with in a week and a half (and that was because the company they use was slow). And I also got a brand new A/C bezel, control, and pocket for free.
But yeah, that is a stupid as **** policy.

Then if he gets into an accident when they check out the damage they will cancel his policy and not pay him anything.

My family got car insurance dropped, even though house and everything else is with them. why? who knows... my car got sledgehammered then 2 weeks later they dropped us... some BS about us not paying on time... we paid 2 weeks early, as usual... they just didnt want to cover our cars because we owned a store, and someone might smash the car again if they got drunk... again...
Lately, StateFarm is sucking... and they were a royal pain to try to get coverage on the car.... kept saying that we caused the damage and were making false claims of the damage... considering the guy confessed because he left the sledge in the car, all the windows were broke, and not a single body peice was left untouched... AND it filled with snow that night... id say that 4700 in damage is not bad at all.... ******

Yeah, well here on the west coast I pay $1800 for the whole year and full coverage. That isn't even with my 15% safe driver discount. Pretty cheap here in B.C. and we have the highest rates out of all the provinces.
