Default Compression good, but too low for 9.1 pistons, decide which pistons???

OK, I bought my 94 rs integra a while back, it had pretty much everything done when I got it. I only added electronics, exhaust, traction bars, etc...

here is everything it is supposed to have/be (I say supposed to b/c I didn't get receipts for everything, but so far everything I've been able to check has been what the guy said)

Anyway, it's a b18c1, stock cams, p&p job, type r springs and retainers

The bottom end is : stock sleeves, .030 over, 9.1 cp pistons, eagle rods, nuformz block guard

that is all that is relevant I think

I compression tested it today (I have had it for about 4 months, and am upping the boost and tuning this weekend so I just checked to see what the numbers were)

#1 150
#2 160
#3 155
#4 165

I've read a few people's results with 9.1's and I see they have about 180, so I am hoping maybe the pistons are 8.5-1. Do those numbers look right for 8.5 pistons?

It runs strong, doesn't smoke... I'm loosing a little bit of oil, but none of it is on the plugs....some of it is due to my crappy PCV system, and it is leaking some (oil pan gasket, and return line)...

Input?

I'm kinda wondering if it was totally up to it's operating temperature. I think the oil temp was about 40-45 degrees C. So maybe I'll repeat it tomorrow and make sure she's hot.

Could a difference in operating temp make 30 compression points difference?

It also depends if they did anything to the valve bowls.... maybe during the p&p material was also taken out from the valve bowls, lowering the compression a little bit.

8:1~8.5:1 compression: 150-170 psi per cylinder

8.5:1~9.5:1 compression: 170-210 psi per cylinder

9.5:1~11:1 compression: 210-275 psi per cylinder

11:1+ compression: 250+ per cylinder (highly depends on cams being used)

Thats taken from jeef aka boosted-hybrids sit and he knows his ****

You probably didn't open the TB all the way, or had the fuel injectors still spraying, etc.

If CP says their piston is 9:1, it's more like 9.00:1. They are accurate as hell.

I did have the fuel injectors still spraying in...that would cause the drop?

Put the pedal to the floor and the injectors won't spray, and you'll get a full charge of air in the cylinder.

oh ok, I had the pedal on the floor. I thought maybe you had to do something else to disable them. I just pulled off the coil wire and the plug wires, took out all the plugs, then started left to right.

You do have to do something else. You are supposed to remove the ECU fuse from the under hood fuse box. It is a small 15 amp fuse that will stop the injectors from firing. Read this:

Putting the pedal to the floor during cranking puts the ecu into clear flood mode which prevents the injectors from firing.
