I was recently ordering a new set of pistons for my B16A2. I originally had JE 9:1, or so i thought. After speaking with Bob at Race Engineering, he said that by putting a JE 9:1 piston into my B16A2 that my compression would lower by half a point. Although they would maintain a 9:1 compression if put into a GSR. He explained to me it was due to a shorter stroke. So in reality my JE 9:1 compression was a 8.5:1 compression. When i spoke with JE, Tony said he thinks it's more like an 8.2:1 or so. Not to say just JE or anything, I am just using them as an example. I ended up ordering a set of Weisco 9.2:1 which will end up being an 8.7:1 compression piston. I got a great deal, $399.00 a set with rings! I have always heard MR2's using Weisco pistons and some import machine shops are begining to use them so I said why not. I never heard anything bad about them, and they were less $$$$$$$$$. Since I am on the topic, WHO HERE USES WEISCO PISTONS ON THERE FI CAR?

i hope this is't true.. bc i have some je 9:1 pistons...going into my b16a2 engine also...i don't want a ultra low compression like that.. grr hummmm but i guess lower compression = more boost.. so yeah il just boost her more ehhe

Vapor Trail, what compression are you going with? I was kind of unsure to use them although I have yet to hear anything bad about them!

I am using Wisecos at 10.0:1 cr
No problems yet, I recommend them as well. They got the from the power cylinder department in a very large engine manufacture. How can I refute that?

The combination of the stroke with the larger combustion chamber of the B16a2 head will yeild you around 8.5:1 You could also just mill the head a couple thousands for some more compression.

Endyn rollerwaves are modified wiseco pistons.

Yeah seems that Weisco makes most shops pistons and the shops slaps there name on it. I believe Race Engineering's pistons are made by Weisco. Not a bad idea!

Call Tony at JE, or Bob at race Engineering. He was very helpful. Talk to him about a set of Weisco's. Seems as though there the best for the buck!
