idling, engine and RPM problems, HELP!!!@
i just picked up a 91 Civic Si hatch taht's been sitting for around a year.
first problem is that when I pulled the spark plugs there was oil all over the wires and plugs. everything from the tip to the hex was oiled in the middle cylinders
normal or what's the issue?
secondly the car idles at 0 rpm. I dont know if it's because I have'nt finished the tune up or what, but it idles at 0 rpm and sounds like total ****.
Normal because of the tune up, or what else?
thirdly, the car does'nt go above 4k RPMs in gear and has no pull or acceleration.
and if it's parked and i put the car to the floor it goes to 4krpms and then goes down to 3 and stays at around 3300?
again, related to the tune up or something else wrong. I remember my 88 DX doing that, once when the alternator was gone, and once when the check engine light was on.
the civic has neither going on, the alternator is fine and so no check E light
what the hell is going on?

For the oil on the plugs, change the valve cover groments and if that don't fix it, you can try changing the rocker are groments.
The rough idle is probably from all the oil getting onto the spark plug.
Also did you pull back the carpet to make sure the its not throwing a code, the check engine light could be burnt out.

What other opionions do you want ? Either is the piston rings or the valve cover gasket/groments.

Clean out the gas tank, replace fuel filter. Replace spark plugs. Also my 90 si idles at 0 rpm, until it revs past a grand or so it wont go up. In my case it was just the sensor idle rpm sensor. (vss?)

That won't do anything ( well it will, but it won't help his problem ), he already said he has no compression in number 3.
