transmission question
ok heres the question.. its not really a problem but i'm currous now. I own a 99 civic ex and I just bought a used transmission from a guy here on HT who got it from another guy here.. transmission is great shifts well and smooth but heres my question. the car has a d16y8 with the s40 (B000) transmission. the one that was in it before shifted at 30-60-90 and this transmission shifts at 40-70-100.. is there a difference in gear ratio in year models of civics? the one I bought is an S40 (B000) as well. kinda weird to me.
all ex/si trannys are booo s40. s40 is the mounting pattern.
different gearing is possible. aftermarket gears could easily be put in. i dont know of any stock tranny that shifts like that that would be an s40

take a look at this site http://home.cinci.rr.com/mistab0ne/tranny.html i did it in my ex trans. and it works wonders for tho's long trips and save gas.
yeah.. i know ill get hella better milage with this tranny and the mid range power is a little better.. the other tranny is tons better off the line though... this one will be great for a turbo setup. i'm still currious about this though
