HELP: alternator fuse keeps blowing when key trun to on postion
my car is an 96 hatch with ls motor swap just got my car running and my car won't charge then i just the fuse which is blown and replaced it but when i trun the key to the on postion it blows again. i put an volt a meter on it and turn the key back to on postion and it reads 9.88 amps and when the car is on it's at 13.99
You might have got a short somewhere in your wiring, start checking all the wires
Running it should be around 14 volts,
when the engine is not running, it should be around 12 volts
Running it should be around 14 volts,
when the engine is not running, it should be around 12 volts
If something touches the alternator that will happen. I know a lot of times when people install jackson superchargers, they don't relocate the alternator like they are supposed to. Then when they start the car, the supercharger touches the alternator and the fuse blows.
