Default Mileage Problems

How many miles should I be getting from a full tank of gas on a stock 93 Lx? Engine is stock except for aem short ram intake. I recently changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, cap, rotor, and pcv. There hasnt been a real difference in the mileage Ive been getting since I changed all that. Right now everytime I refill I reset the trip meter and Ive only been getting about 160-180 miles, mostly city driving. Does that sound right or should I be getting more? I got 17's that weight 23 Lbs each without tires if that makes any difference. Any input would help, thanks.

Miles / tank really doesn't mean anything, because not all civics came with the same sized tank. You need to track your MPG. Fill up the tank, reset the trip odo. Fill up the tank after driving and divide the trip milage by the amount of gas it took to fill the tank.

Seems kinda normal. Might also want to change the oxygen sensor and adjust the valve lash.

he should have an 11G tank IIRC, so that mileage does seem low. I get between 300-325ish on most of a tank w/ city driving in my hatch w/ a D15B VTEC.

Lay off the right pedal a little bit also. That helps.

Thanks for all the replies. I do lay off the pedal. I was thinking of cleaning the fuel injectors. How do I go about this by using a fluid and pour it in the gas tank or is there more to it?

I'd suggest replacing the O2 since you've done most of the other maintanace stuff already. You can try injector cleaner; you just add it in w/ gas as you are filling up. If you do decide to replace the O2, http://stores.ebay.com/AutoPartsWarehouse2000 has gotten good reviews here on HT & the pricing is good. That guy sells denso O2's which are supposed to be the best replacement available.

Ive been monitoring that the last few months and Ive been getting anywhere from 17.8-22 MPG. Each time filling up about 8.5-9 gallons.

I installed an old O2 sensor I had laying around but now the CEL comes on occasionally. Ill try and pick up a Denso and see what happens. Any suggestions on which injector cleaners work best? Thanks alot.

That's all a matter of preference. I used Lucas last time, but Chevron, or really any kind will serve the same purpose. Good luck w/ this man. I was having a similar issue, and a new O2 sensor fixed it. I went from 18MPG to 30ish.

Thanks alot. I guess Ill pick up some cleaner and so I can have it when I get some gas. Thats a big difference after the O2 install Im gonna order one now. Do the Denso plug right in to the stock plug? The dealer wants about $165 for an O2 so I guess Denso is worth a try.

The Denso that you order should be an OEM replacement, and it should just plug in like stock.
