Default How low is too low???? Pic Inside!!!!!!

I have a 1990 DX Hatchback slammed on H&R race springs and I on my was to a friends house when I approach a constuction area. They are replacing some areas around sewer caps. So Im dodging them, kinda slaloming them when I notice at the last second one that is raised up high enough that I may bottom out. I try to swerve to avoid my header and SCRAPE

I just thought I put a new dent in my header, oh well I bought it for a $125 on Ebay (Megan Racing Header) well it ended up being this

I took out my tranny casing......**** It sits right now with about 4 tubes or JB weld so it will hold fluid so I still have a car That stuff is pretty amazing.

So if anyone had a B-series tranny, preferably another YS1 cable tranny I will take it ASAP

Hahaha..i see these guys drive around with their cars absolutely slammed and I am always wondering what happens when they hit rough road. Maybe you should think about going with less of a drop. I don't think being slammed is worth destroying a header or trans.

i would of took the F'n header out of commission. ys1,s1 with no grinds arent cheap and are rare. a $125 header is replaceable and dime a dozen buddy.

contact the town hall make a complaint about the roadway there and how it took out your tranny.

then you can try to have them reimburse you for the damages. i know they do this with flat tires in my area, but its worth a shot to get some $ back.

don't mention that the car is lowered.

Yeah, don't ask, don't tell is the best policy for this one I think. I have an LS trans for sale, it's no YS1 but it's in good shape.

Raise the car, slow down and be careful!

suck a **** pal. i wasnt flaming you or calling you immature names. just stating the obvious, now you can take your defensive self out of here. good luck with tranny search.

my megan racing 4-1 saved my oil pan and tranny plenty of time i'll post pics of it mangled, not for you but for the rest on the people who are going to see this thread.

i know you didnt do it on purpose but its your fault to swerve and be so low. Do you know that a 4-1 on an EF is a good under carriage motor and trans protector. well it isnt suppose to be but thats what i considered mine after bending and scraping it.

If I would have kept it in the middle I would have knocked out my oil pan and header. It was a lose, lose and lose situation. Whether it was my tranny, header, or oil pan I'd still be in the same boat

I kust went out and looked at it agian and it also took out my passenger side tow hook

Get a LS tranny as DR said and put all your stuff in it or some other type of tranny that is less desirable and can be had for cheap and swap all your stuff into it from your busted tranny. Then if you ever come into a situation and someone says what do you have you can say "I just have and LS tranny" then you can smuggly smile and sheepishly grin as you walk away.

I have 40mm lowering springs on the car, and I scrape at least twice a day when driving around. I've read somewhere that only like 30-40% of the taxes they get from car owners (gas, annual ownership fees, toll roads etc.) are put back into the road budget (in Norway). Even the roads way up in the mountains have a better standard than in the cities. They kinda dig a lot

I'm in the same boat... 2 weeks ago a pothole in town took out my Oil pan, Oil Pickup & tranny housing.

I put a Claim against the city for the damages, it's like $1700 for acura to fix it... I already have a new tranny housing lined up for 100$... but i got to deal with insurance Dicks !

oh well...

(and my car is only lowered 1.5")

You guys need to install a "bash plate"..
Have a look underneath the nearest rally car to see what I mean.
