Warped Head?
Hey all... I'm working on a buddy's eg coupe w/ a b16a swap and a greddy turbo kit. We bought the car all f'd up (was swapped all ready, and turboed). It had a fields vtec controller wired up backwards (pressure out was going to the sensor and pressure in was going to the ecu, same for vtec lol). It ran like *** and had no power when we got it (lol got 11 mpg on the way home, pure gas coved my window when we treid to get on the interstate). They said the just replaced the headgasket in it with arp studs. Anyways we finaly get it running right installed a vafc i had laying around wired up properly, was running pretty good then the hg went. so we replaced it wiht a cometic hg and slapped it on. Its been about a week, got it ghetto tuned w/ the vafc now running way rich and timing retarded to hell (8* base 10.5 a/f) and now its starting to burn oil again, and leaking oil out of the gasket near the tranny on the front of the motor. When we took off the head there was some sludge (like oil/coolant mix) on coolant passages (sleave / block what ever its called). We dont know if it had a bad hg before they got it and before we got it? It never overheated / even ran hot with us. It has a fluidine radaitor and never went over 1/2 way on the gauge while we had it. Think the blocked could be warped? or just the head? I'm Not use to all aluminum engines..
I have access to a straight edge and feeler gauges.. But if the block is warped I have to disassemble it to get it decked? I dont know if the kid wants to put that much money into rebuilding it and everything
