Default OT: How do I jack up my car in a sloped garage?

I just moved to a new place that has a garage and driveway that are sloped. The garage isn't terribly sloped by definately enough to get my car to roll without the parking brake.

So how do I jack up my car without killing myself?

I suppose I could use blocks for the wheels but still that doesn't seem entirely the best way. Any ideas would be greatly apprecaited.

blocks, put it in gear, parking brake. do all of those and you'll be fine.

Whats best to do is not to jack it up at all. Its better in your situation just to get ramps and block the other end of the car with blocks.

Thanks for the replies but there are going to be times when I need to jack up the rear, so will the car being in gear with blocks be enough to hold the car in place?

Also I'd use ramps, but there are many times when I need to work on the suspension.

hmmm.. I'm in the same situation with a slightly sloped driveway. I don't have ramps - can the car be put up on jacks on a sloped driveway? 4 jacks, 2 jacks? I didn't think so, but maybe I am wrong, I don't have a lot of experience with this...

I wouldn't do all 4 corners at once, unless the foot of your jackstand is like 4 square feet

If you only do one end at a time, you could chuck the other end with some of those big *** chucks for RVs. I just saw them at ACE Hardware for really cheap.

you can get away with using only 2 JACKSTANDS (2 fronts OR 2 rears), just make sure its secure before working on the car. i don't see how you can use 4 jackstands
