Default Civic 3 bolt flange?

I am trying to seperate the three bolt flange on the backside of the cat. It looks like the nuts are welded on (!). If I cut off the nut, can I use a punch to drive the stud out of the flange? Has anybody seen these bolts welded on before (it is a stock exhaust)? What is the best way to remove the old stud?

Thanks

Dave

Do you plan on keeping the cat or the piping attached to it?

yes if you cut off the nut, the studs are splined into the cat and they will drive out and you can nut and bolt it from there.
