What up playas? I have a turbocharged gsr with a few other upgrades. I'm running an msd btm that came with the turbo kit to my factory cap and distributer. What does the external coil do? I've never really known. I ran a search and couldn't find info on what they actually do. Need any more info, please ask.

 

an external coil makes the charger from 12v to 50,000volts for the spark plug so that the plug will make the spark. An external coil supposedly works better then an internal coil because it can produce a higher voltage to the spark plug. Is this true I dunno, I have had 0 problems with my coil. I have see 600+ n/a set-up's run just fine with oem ignition set-ups.

 

honda/acura come with internal coils on most cars as far as I know. I don't know what year they changed to internal though.
