Default ecu for zc

I have a 91 civic hatch with a 88 dohc zc swap. I presently have a pg7 ecu in place. I would like to use the "right" zc ecu hoping for better fuel maps and higher rev limits. I bought a pm7 ecu thinking this was the correct zc ecu. When installed I kept getting the check engine light. My mechanic told me I was throwing an 11 code.

Any help would be appreciated. Is ther a way to use my zc ecu or did I buy the wrong one? Thanks.

Peter

most people use the 89 integra manual..

or you can get a ZC ECU.. little harder to find...

Peter,

A PM7 is definitely a DOHC ZC ecu.

Although, I'm not sure what code 11 is; there's actually no such code. You sure you're reading the blinking LED correctly?

Since you've come to the ZC side I'll show you the best place to get ZC info. I'll let you know now the PM7 is the best ECU for that engine, however it has a speed limiter of 114 mph. The PG7 runs the car rich, and the PM6 is just a slower ECU fr the engine but has no problems for daily driving. Check out http://www.thezcr.com for all your ZC questions and needs. Also about that code are you sure you have a PG7 because a code 11 comes up on an EDM ECU for a sensor that doesn't exist on USDM cars.

Thanks. The pm7 I bought is an edm ecu for a zc (so I was told). Is my pm7 worth using with my zc? Is it better than a pg7? How do elimiate the code 11 from coming up? It is my understanding that the dedicated zc ecu performs best of all??

You either have to acquire the sensor that causes code 11 or get a new ECU. I've heard they run like crap without it.

Thanks. It looks like I have 2 options if I want to use the zc ecu. Either I need to find the sensor (not sure of what I really need for this) for the edm pm7 ecu I have or find a jdm pm7 zc ecu. Any help appreciated.

Well, here's the answer. I bought the zc, pm7, ecu. It outperforms the pg7! The zc runs stronger and smoother throughout the power band. The rev limit is 7800. If you are going to do a zc swap, you MUST get the pm7 ecu, the pg7 works but underperforms.
