Default Funny Funny Funny story about my crx problem (archived topic)

OLD POST

have a 1988 d15b2 crx with nothing done to it. I just replaced the clutch in my car with the help of my father in law. ((Just giving some background on the car)) I was on my way home today and I hit this huge pot hole and as soon as I did I heard a loud pop. I looked behind me and didnt see anything that flew loose falling out the back. I then tried to put the car into 4th gear and it would not go into gear. I coasted down the hill and pulled the car into my parking lot and looked under the hood. I didn't notice anything out of place except for the clutch cable.. It looked as if it was stretched... Im guess that was the loud pop. The car will go into gear when the car is off and the clutch is pressed however when the car is turned on it will not go into any gear at all. I tried to tighten up the cable just to be sure I still go the same results.. Ive got a big trip to get to tomorrow and I need my car asap.. Not to drive it but to get to sc to meet my dad and then start the trip.. SO any help and quick response would be great.. Thanks in advance

Update Post

This happen to me one day. I had another car I was using at the time so I never put the car in the shop. Well, I found out what was wrong. The noise I heard was a 12mm socket that I left on the clutch when I put it back in. We were using air tools and I guess when we pulled it off the socket stayed.. Thats what I heard when over 4k. When I hit the pot hole the socket dislogged from where it was stuck on the bolt and got lodge in my pressure plate forks. Thats what stopped it from getting in gear

12mm craftsman-- $10
New clutch disc ----$15
Having it fixed------$168

Getting to laugh at my stupid mistake-- priceless

funny ****. i'm still trying to think of how many 12mm bolts need to go back on after that one, and wondering exactly how the"dude, where the hell is the 12" conversation went.

Funny thing is we were looking for it for about 25mins and then figured maybe we would find it when we cleaned up. Your not just going to leave a craftsman and not worry about it . So, we cleaned up and didnt find it-- didnt even think anything of it lol
