Default track time

ok i have a 99 civic sohc turbo. i took it to the track and my best time was a 16 flat. i do have a check engine light. the code is reading my o2 sensor, does that cause the timing to retard. also i think my clutch is going out. i ran on 17's. is this normal or when i get my car fixed will it run faster?

Why the **** were you running then? Were you like "Hey, my ECU is telling me something is wrong with my engine, I know! I'll go run at the track! Maybe it'll go away after a few full throttle runs down the dragstrip"

No, it causes your car to run extremely rich (less power) and drive like complete ****.

Genius, pure genius. I've always wondered why top fuel dragsters don't use 225/40/17 tires.

Great, buy a new one.

Yes, its normal to have the check engine light on. Every time I go to test drive a new car, I ask the salesperson "Hey, is everything alright with this car? The amber check engine light isn't on..."

get some smaller wheels...your times will improve drastically. Also what was your trap speed and 60'?

cant drive isnt the problem i rdrove my friends type r and ran a 13.5 so i know i can drive and thanx for the smart *** remarks if i wanted them i would of asked for them. i know about the tires but thats the thing im not trying to get the lowest possible time on a turbo car. i ran it like it will be on the streeets. if some one pulls up to me im not gonna say hang on let me put my slicks on. i know on the highway i keep up with my friends civic with a b18c5 and he is on 15's. the only thing i want is to break a low 15, possible high 14 and i will be satisfied

they just gave you the advice that you needed.

1. get your CEL fixed.

2. get smaller wheels.

3. you can't drive.

if you don't like the information, then leave.

13.5 vs 15's huh, yeah you're keeping up . 17's kill your 60' time, along with any chances you have of hitting high 14's. Learn your car, then learn how to drive.

You car is running in freaking limp mode with that o2 cell. It's rich and you shouldnt be abusing it in that state. Buy yourself a new o2 sensor, new clutch, and take it to the track again.

What were you traps and 60' times??

O2 sensor codes put your car into limp mode. If you can't break mid 14's with your setup you seriously can't drive. It's possible to get a good 60 foot with 17's, but you have to be high in your torque band and good on the clutch which, as you say, isn't working well.

Fix your **** and run it again. I'm sure you'll be surprised at how well a functional automobile performs as compared to a busted one .
