Beautiful MD weather! Had some fun tonight with my R!
I haven't been on HT much recently, schools been kicking my ***! But Maryland's been having some great weather like the last 10 days and I have yet to have a chance to really DRIVE the R.
I mean its my daily but I never get to use it the way it likes to be used. Well tonight it was about 55 or so outside and I tore up some back roads that I know very well and cut her loose. I think my R liked stretching its legs cause it broke loose in 2nd gear from a 40 mph cruise. (I got like 200 wheel for those who dont believe haha). Its actually never broken loose on dry road before in 2nd sooo I was like holy ****.
Anyway, I am amazed still what a great car all around it is, speed and handling. Keep them safe guys and have fun tracking this summer!

I have a hard time believing that you guys have local roads anywhere near as good as mine, I've been all around Md, and I think I have you beat ;-)
ooo i dunno about that. depends on how far and long you drive out near where i live. there are some great corners and long stretches to open her up on. haha
I can vouch for Western MD having fantastic roads. I've driven hours out of my way just to tool around there. Totsie, you're up north a bit right? My buddy was telling me about this road around some big reservoir up West of Bel Air. It's a 14-mile loop or something, with next to no traffic. I haven't had time to get up there yet, but maybe you know what I'm talking about.

I used to live about 10 minutes from Bel-Air and am pretty sure i know the road you are talking about. 7 Sisters which is what the turns are called in located in Loch Raven just outside of Towson. If you want directions pm me

There;s nothing like mountains for twisties, we've got stretches that could give Deal's Gap a run for it's money.
My commute to work is 10-15 minutes of backroads and I see only a few other cars on the way. It makes going to work fun and leaving even better.
7 sisters= harford road, two friends lost cars on that road
the resevoir as was previously mentioned is loch raven resevoir, right now half of it is closed down due to construction on the dam, but the other half is still open.
its expected to re-open sometime this year, 2005. me and a friend walked back there last week to due some fishing and the raod was looking mighty good

yes i am smelling a back road cruise as well!! We could get some dinner or something afterwards.
And its the Loch Raven Resevoir. There are some very nice roads near Jacksonville and in Bel Air. We should talk more about this. Everyone keep posting if you wanna set up a backroad cruise.

Well, if y'all are going to drive around down there, don't expect me to make that drive. But I might be convinced to play tour guide if you decide to make a trip up here to God's country. If you do want to come up here, don't be thinkin' it's a casual afternoon drive, it's 200 miles from down there, plan to stay overnight, but there is certainly plenty to see in "Maryland's Best Kept Secret".

Screw you guys. My 'country roads' are a grid of cornfields.

Best road I've ever been on was a detour off of 58 (Parkway to 8) on the way to VIR.
edit: WooHoo a new Hitchhiker's movie is coming out soon!

I was looking at the summit website and it looked like the only open days were the Friday at the track and seat time. Am I missing something? I will probably be flamed for asking but do they have open track days besides these?
