I just changed the plugs when I brought my bike out of storage. Drop the spark plug socket down in the spark plug tube. Take about a 4-5" extension and slide down in and connect. It should barely stick out of the spark plug tube. Attach wrench and loosen. Then once loose enough remove wrench and you should have just barely enough room to pull the extension, socket and plug out of the spark plug tube. Repeat for rest of cylinders. I did three on the left side and one on the right. Kind of a pain, but you just have to be patient and take your time.

A spark plug socket. I mean they come in 5/8" or 13/16". You will want a 5/8", but you want a spark plug socket. You know one that's deepwell and has the rubber ring inside to hold the plug. I hope you are using one of those.

i had the same problem. i ended up using a swivel socket and an extension after a few minutes of frustrating agravation.
but ur bike should have a tool kit for easier access

I have noticed that alot of spark plug sockets have a thick wall on them and will not fit inside the head. Look for a thin walled spark plug socket.

Same type of problem on my friends rav 4. I could not get the friggen socket down into the head to remove the plugs.
