Default My compression #'s

So I did a compression test on my 01 JDM ITR motor just now and these are my numbers. Turned the car over 5 times on each cyl then took a reading. Then repeated the test with a cap full of oil in each cyl. These are my numbers. Thoughts?

So what does this mean?

Cyl#1
Dry - 190
Wet - 240

Cyl#2
Dry - 200
Wet - 240

Cyl#3
Dry - 200
Wet - 230

Cyl#4
Dry - 175
Wet - 200

Car dynoed at 180whp on a DynoJet with a short ram and Vibrant headers. Was at the track yesterday and was told I was puffing a bit of smoke. Hence the compression test.

ill add that i am a newB. take a look at a helms manual to find out exactly how much variation is acceptable between the cylinders. there is a helms website, search honda-tech to find it. good luck. btw, i have heard of R's smoking out the exaust, i believe that if it is blue smoke you have a problem. of course, i am no expert.

good luck. 180 whp with the mods you have is very good.

Watch for Cylinder 4... you might have a problem in that one.

How much oil do you use?

What color was the smoke?

There's also a possibility that your car had some smoke because it was running rich.

yea cylinder 4 kinda dropped a bit. You idealy want to have even numbers across the board. Its not really what number as long as they all are near the same. Obviously R's have high compression anyway. Might wanna take a look at 4 though.

numbers are ok when i did mine, i was getting around 220-230 dry and they didn't go that much higher with the wet test, but you are fine.

I went through about a liter/quart of oil for a full day of lapping. I was running 5W30 which is a bit thin anyway. I just put in Motul 5W40 to see if that helps. People at the track were the ones telling me they saw blue smoke. The oil also went black towards the end of the day which concerns me a little too. I was in the underground tonight and looked at the mirror on the wall and it looked black to me.

There seems to be a big drop on #4 and from my understanding the wet test shouldn't jump 20%+. 5-10% is what we should be looking for, isn't it? The purpose of the oil is to find leaks in the cyl and plug them. No leaks, no change in compression. If there are leaks, then the oil fills them and we see a big increase in pressure. Or at least that's my understanding.

Would doing a valve adjustment effect compression? In theory it should.
