Default Comments on SCC Ultimate Street Car??

I remember a few weeks ago everyone was talking about the supercharged ITR in the mag that was set to be in the 10 best competition. A lot of people were taling about the driver of the car, some SCCA champion. So now that the new issue is out, we can clearly see the supercharged ITR sucked. And WTF is with the quarter mile time? I havnt read the article, so I cant say much, but I did look at the pictures and was laughing alot. Now the ITR is a cheap car compared to its competition, but c'mon.

If you look at all the 1/4 times you'll see they're all slow. That Hyundai has run 9's in the past, but was only able to crank off a 10.40. That Supra has over 600 whp and hit a low 12, a guy in my neighborhood runs low 11's at over a mile high wilth less power. Something's fishy with all the 1/4 times in that test.

As for the ITR, it did finish 3rd in the road course behing the Ferrari (which whooped everyones ***) and the 600 hp Supra with a race suspension beat it by 3 hundredths of a second. Out of all those cars, the only two to beat it was a 1/4 million dollar supercar and a 40k sports car with 20k or more in mods. Not bad IMNSHO. The Type R did well where it was supposed to.

Edit: typo

The only place he did really well was on the raod course and in braking. I haven't read the article either just skimmed the results

I was also disappointed in the results of the ITR. There's probably a handful of people on the board who could have performed just as well on the road course, and better in the other tests..

all i can say is the skyline got robbed!!!! my friend, justin from MotoRex, is the owner of that car and it is rediculously fast, handles unbelieveably, and is easy to drive. they totally screwed him. they docked him like -90 points because they said his clutch was too hard to drive with, only to say later in the article that his clutch is awesome. he also got killed on emissions because they could not do the test without getting in trouble. imho, that car is the ultimate street car.

i also know Mani with the red supra. his car is really fast also.

yeah I agree on that. I love the fact that they had to rid the car up on the dyno to do a 2wheel dyno!!! Whats stupid is that their a 4wheel dyno in SoCal! SCC really messed this whole test out! What a susprise!
IMO the type R and its setup was a killer sleeper, however the car just stayed asleep and didn't wake up as with the driver! hhahahahaha

Dudes - get the facts and don't get all bent out of shape over ONE test. It's preached so often that one test cannot be compared to another unless the conditions are the same for both. Anyway, right up front in the article, and I quote "Los Angeles County Raceway is not the place to mend your ego. The high altitude, hot air and low friction surface conspire to frustrate....."

So, you can compare that R to the other cars, relatively speaking, as they all had the same basic track conditions. That's about all.

Acutally thats almost normal CA weather! I dyno in it, drive in it, drag in it, etc...
Its not that bad! SCC was just compaining about it because the heat was causing all that grease and slime in their hair to melt.
Sacramento raceway where I drag has a lot worse conditions IMO.

Yes, SacRaceway does have the worst conditions from April-September, its focking hot and humid and plus its out in the boonies in noman's land...The good times to race there are From November-March...IMO

I think its a damn shame that my car didn't get picked. It probably would have broke down the on road course but I would have done way better on the dyno and in the quarter mile. I think my car is more representative of what could be done to a Honda to make it perform than that underpowered type r.

Rboosted717 was totally right when he said the ITR was tuned very badly...on several occassions in the article, the SCC staff stated the tuning on the ITR was done very badly..

I've seen twin engined cars on nitrous, but never twin engined, turbo'd and methanol.

dang calm down. I was mearly joking on the slow 1/4mile time. And no I'm not making fun of it because of my time, I was saying it because a stock type R with exhaust stuff and a VAFC could hit that time easily.
I'm not attacking his trac skills at all. Heck I've been following his events he's been in for awhile now and he's a kilelr driver. However I just don't see what happened to hit 1/4mile. Maybe he started in 2nd gear of something. Even with a 3.0sec 60ft, he still should be able to hit low 14's at least, not mid-high 14's. Maybe he just didn't want to try to drag the car since he's all track. I dunno. I just figured with his racing skills he has, he would be able to hit a faster time.

I agree, it all depends on how well the car was tuned. I've been to drag races, where supercharged GSR's ran low 14's, and supercharged ITR's ran mid 13's. I had a JRSC on my ITR and I was very impressed by it. I once raced my friends ITR, and let him have a 2 car lead, only to wind up beating him by 2 cars. It all depends on how well the car is tuned. If it's tuned correctly, the ITR has the potential of hitting 13's all day long.

I would have loved to see that R nicely tuned and get better results. Oh well, maybe next time!

That tiburon was the highlight I think.... sleeper cars are the ones everyone should worry about...

however his 1/4mile was with good power. He was still hitting like 242whp according to the dyno they did they day before. Thats what makes me wonder what happened. I've seen many JRSC R'poo poo low 14's stock with a charger which makes like 180-190whp. I did 13.8 with 215whp and some friends did about the same with around the same power.
This guy had 242whp and did a 14.75! Some stock R owners have hit 14.7 with just an intake, a exhaust, and good tires which probally is like 180whp!! Yet a JRSC R with 242whp hits the same? It can't be tuning, it just has to be the driver. It appears in the article that each person got 3 try's at the track. I would figure maybe the first time he dragged he bogged the line. The second time maybe the tires were too full. The third time, I dunno! Even with any of those problems, that still wouldn't explain why that car was doing so bad. Something was defintally up. Also to help the drivers creditability, in the first article it said he was a quick 8 winner a few times which means he drag's the car!! So what happened? If he knows how to drag and he making 242whp, what caused a 14.7 run???? Say the car just totally freaked out and wasn't running well that day for some reason. Hey its happened to me and it might have happened to him. My first time out dragging while I was in line my car just freaked out and wouldn't hold an idle, etc... We reset the ECU in time and the gremlin went away, however do you really think this guy had a gremlin that dropped his power from 242whp (the previous day) to around 170-190whp??? I highly doubt that cause that would and could really only happen say if the blower belt snapped or something. I dunno maybe the engine got messed up which is why he's selling it?
