german made castrol syntec 0w-30 is no longer green in color. the new 2005 batch is now amber.
although the color has changed not much else has. it is still:
-"made in germany"
-an ACEA A3 motor oil
-bmw longlife-01
-VW 502 00, 505 00, 503 01
-MB 229.1, 229.3
-porsche approved

In the US you can pick it up at Autozone stores, but you have to check the bottles to make sure it says "Imported from Germany"...

Probably unnecessary. The amber so far looks to be just as good as the green... but it is still to early to tell.
A thought on the new color from BITOG:
"I believe what is happening is simple. Castrol is bringing over their European line of oils which have to meet demanding specs, more specifically the ACEA A3 for the VW crowd. 5w-40 Belgian stuff is now available also. I think Patman is right, the GC05 is PAO/Ester still. Just a different additive package."
