Default I dunno if this is a repost, but Nitrous Backfire claims another one (DSM)...

Apparently at the Suby VS DSM showdown in Ohio, this unfortunate DSM had a nitrous back fire which blew off the fuel rail...and so it began...

Simply horrible. It's almost like watching a family member burn alive.

I don't think their could be anything harder than watching all your hard work go up in flames.

That is absolutely terrible. It looks like even if there was a fire truck on site the car was gone pretty quickly. I feel bad for owner to have to stand there and watch all his hard work just burn away in a matter of minutes. Shows you how devastating a nitrous problem can be.

I was told that they used all 15 fire extinquishers with no results. They didn't have a fire truck on site, and the only station in town was a couple minutes away. Once the truck arrived, the car was already toast.

other than that, I have no information about the car.

You can obviously see the frustration and shock in the owners reactions...I feel so bad for him.

I have seen alot of NO2 fires before. If there is not fire truck there..... It will be destroyed. NO2 feeds the fire!
Wish the guy best of luck.

Default Lessons learned

1) Put a NHRA-approved electrical system kill switch on the car so you can turn off the fuel pump from outside the car

2) If you can get to the bottle, turn the damn valve off

That's why I suspect it's not a nitrous fire.

it had to have been a fuel cell fire first and then the nitrous prob didnt help the situation. There is no way that started as just a nitrous prob

Dont know how , but thats what I take of it.

BTW his girl does have a nice ***. lol.

I was told (and I mentioned this above) that the nitrous backfired, which blew off the fuel rail. Obviously, the fuel sprayed onto the ground (little line of fire in the first pic), but from there, I'm not sure how the rear of the car caught fire.

kinda hard to imagine nitrous backfiring like that and blowing off the injectors and rail off the IM. I guess maybew it could happen though.

Def scary. Glad I never had probs with nitrous. There have been alot of stories with this **** lately
