Default skunk 2 cam itr motor vtec runs rich

I have a 2000 usdm type R motor with skunk2 stage 2 cams and a jg intake manifold. I/H/E

I have tried many diffrent chips and on the wide band I have the same problem every time. Everything is at around 14.6:1 af and runs fine but as soon as it hits vtec It drops to almost 10.6:1 and runs like crap untill about 7500rpm and than starts to lean out and runs hard till 9500rpm where it sits at around 15.6:1 on the wide band.

The timing marks are right on o2 is plugged in.

Any ideas?

Thanks

p30 with type R chip.

I did a search about the cams but I am trying to figure out if it is the cams that is causing this problem or if there is something else wrong??? Any one else have any ideas? I don't want to spend money getting my aem ems tunned if I have another problem I will need to fix later and have to get re tunned...

Thanks!

you can't expect some chip to be perfect, get the thing tuned, you are running WAY to lean. Even down low at 14.6 or whatever, should be more like 13.3-5

it was running way too rich (Not to sure why rich instead of lean though)... Any how to any one that wants to know it was the cams that were causing it. I threw in a set of stock b16 cams and instantly all my problems were gone. I can't belive how much of a diffrence those cams effect the af ratio as soon as vtec kicks in.

I guess I learned something. I am just wating for my twm's to come in and than I will stick the cams back in and get my aem ems tunned.

Thanks for the info and help!

You car was running rich in vtec because of the overlap with these cams, pull some fuel out with a vafc and you will be good to go.
