Take ALL of the bondo off and look carefully at the sheetmetal. You need to decide if replacing the entire quarter is worth ~$1400 per side in a shop. True you can cut the replacement panel and only put on what you think will do the job-cost will be lower. Full replacement, including repairing the inner structure-it is a streesed member of the car-is best left to pro's. You need to find the source of the problem and attack it completely. There are some very good products out there (POR-15 for example) that will help reduce rusting over the long term. Keeping the body clean underneath is very important too.

I have the same problem. It's going to be a cut and paste scenerio. I am bringing it to a body shop. They basically cut out the rust then weld on new metal work it in then make it flow with the car. Then the day it's done I am rust proofing it. Then after a few weeks of the rust proof chillin on the car I clean off the excess rust proofing then I am painting the car. It will be about 1000$ in body work.

Im currently in the process of fixing the rust on my CRX, the whole rear bumper frame peice was rusted to hell, and the in side of the wheel wells near the rear were rusted through to the inside of the car. Three days with a hammer and angle grinder (broke the grinder on the third day) got rid of the majority of the major rust, only a few spots left on the actual body. This week its on to repairing all the wholes and repainting.

Moral of the story, if the rust isnt too bad you can probably fix it your self and save some money. If you need welding or cutting done, thats a different story, but always see if you can do it yourself first, you save money and get satisfaction knowing you did the job your way and to your standards
