Default Is this safe?

Hey guys i am doing my clutch in a couple of days on my EM1 and had a question. In order to get extra height under the car would it be safe to roll the back tires on ramps backwards so the back is raised like 8 inches then jack up the front so i have the front extra high and the back lifted too? would this be stable enough? It sounds good to me but i would like to make sure. Hope fully you understand what i mean. Thanks in advance!

So the back on ramps and then the front higher than that?
Not smart......
Youre supposed to block the rear wheels when the car is up...you cant do that when its on ramps.
Not safe.

I wouldnt trust a jack when you're gonna be dealing with your transmission (kinda heavy) and you probably do some moving around when you're trying to get it off and then on.

Roll the back of the car onto the ramps, jack up the front, insert jackstands on each side of the car, and then remove the jack. If you dont have jackstands get a pair from your local autoparts store (it's only 18 bucks where I live for the pair). I wouldnt risk being crushed by a car just to save 18 dollars...

i have 2 jacks and 4 jackstands and 4 ramps all 3+ ton and my car weighs 2600 lbs so i will definately use them and be safe about that. I was curious if it was safe to have the rear on ramps and the front higher on jack stands. Sounds like it might not be that great of an idea. anymore thoughts? Thanks

No it's not a good idea at all. I've done 2 clutches in the past 2 weeks and just jacking up the front of the car and putting it on jack stands gave me and my friend plenty of room to get the tranny and all that stuff out.

Not a good idea. As was already stated, you should block the rear wheels, and you can't if they are on ramps. Just use your jackstands.

It doesnt need to be that high off the ground.
The front alone up is enough. When its time to put the tranny back in you'll want it lower

it may not be safe, but i have put the rear tires inside the front tires to lift the rear up. steelies of course, flame suit ready. i have always done that, but since i now have anoother shop with a lift i have no need to do that.
