Default strange thunking noise, help asap

When I go over large enough bumps, accelerate quickly, or slam on the brakes, there is a distinct thump, heard outside and inside (and you can even feel it in the floor) coming from somewhere (i believe) around the firewall or suspension.

This just started happening after I installed my Full-Race traction bar. It sounds like something's hitting the firewall. My engine is, as far as i can tell, not touching anything, and my mounts are torqued.

Does anyone have any ideas?

thanks

Did you get the car aligned afterwards?

I'm not a genious on traction bars, but if they go on the crossmember bolts, then you may want to get a big *** impact and tighten the **** out of it.

I used to have a clunk from my front end, and i tightened my crossmember bolts and it went away. Yes, our cars are at least 12 years old, and things tend to get loose. In your case, you might not have tightened them enough. Hey, at least give it a try.

well, here's the deal:
it's aligned, yes
and
I tightened the hell out of them at first, then took them back down to spec. didnt seem to make a difference. I tightened the two huge bolts that go straight up to 40 ft-lbs, but the 6 side bolts i did not tighten to any spec. could that actually be the problem?

Do you have access to a lift or a couple floor jacks?
