I doubt that it runs "better". It may get 1-2 MPG more, and maybe like .05% HP increase from reduced friction but that is about it. You run synthetic to have long engine life.

Oh and if you are not using 0W-30 Castrol Syntec(otherwise known as German Castrol) you are not really using synthetic. Mobil 1 is second best, but is still made of mineral base.

Last week I didn't know any of that. But I decided I should probably know a thing or two about oil so I searched HT for oil threads and of course BITOG.

AMSOIL.. 1st in synthetics and best in synthetics.. if you don't mind paying a lot for oil go for Amsoil 0w30 which is race proven to have less wear on ur engine (much less than other leading synthetics) and keep ur engine running cooler. On top of that Amsoil claims it good for 35,000 miles (yes 35,000) or one year whichever comes first - changing ur amsoil filter halfway.

Also if you've never put synthetic in it it would be wise to find an oil system cleaner to clean everything out so the synthetic doesn't do that itself - making its life shorter

Any questions PM me.. i have quite a bit of experience in this field

And i agree with what crx said about a little bit of power and gas milage but you won't feel a huge difference but you will avoid problems in the long run

Mobil 1 is not mineral based. You'd think with the sheer quantity of oil discussions on here, simple incorrect facts like this should not occur. One of the main advantages to running a syn oil is extended oil changes. While this matters to some, this does not appeal to most. Any good dino oil will give your engine a long life when changed regularly.

depends on the oil.. like i brought out before amsoil makes a 25,000 and 35,000 mile 100% synthetic.. there are other brands that make semi synthetics which last like 5,000.. but most synthetics like mobil 1, castrol, vavoline, havoline recommend about 6 or 7000 miles or 6 months compared to regular oil lasting 3,000 miles or 3 months

I'm a bit new to this.

So my GSR says 5/30

I run 5/30 in the winter and 10/30 in the summer

Does the GC only come in 0/30? And is that fine for the integra
