Just recently noticed that my car is making a whistle/high pitched noise. I opened the hood up and found its comming from the right side of the engine, maybe from the belts. Can't figure it out. I have a 99 accord vtec. Any suggestions? Should it be something I should get fixed?

 

Maybe try to tighten the belts?

Is it a squeal or a bearing noise?? A high pitched sound from the belt area could be a bad PS pump, AC compressor, water pump, or alternator. How do the belts look? Dryrotted or glazed?

 

Belts look great. The sound is a squeal. I have a feeling its the ac clutch. When i turn on the ac it goes away.

 

replace the drive belt and tension correctly and the noise will go away.

 

tighten w/ manufacture torque spec
