Default surging idle after d16y8 intake manifold swap on d16y7

i just finished the swap. I have a surging idle from 1000-2000 when it's warm. When you first start it up it's ok..then after about 10 seconds it starts doing it, warm or cold.

I brought the engine to operating temperature and filled up coolant from the RAD, I did not bleed it from the thermostat, as far as I know filling it up from the rad and going for a drive, then retoping it off, is enough, please correct me if I am wrong

The intake manifold is from a 99 auto, so I had to plug in those 4 holes, which I did, and I put a screw in the closest (to the engine) nipple. I also plugged the 2 holes at the back. I used JBWeld for the holes. I used the y7 throttle body, with a new butterfly that rotates properly. I used the y8 intake manifold gasket. I used the y7 injectors and fuel rail.

here's some pics, anyone have ANY ideas?

the intake temp sensor (one that goes on intake pipe) I left it unplugged, as I have to mod my intake

I have the filter directly bolted to the TB

would that cause that?

my two pesos...

Eliminate a variable by bleeding the coolant per factory method and plugging in the temp sensor.

Are there any vaccum holes on the head that could cause a compatibility issue with the new manifold? How's the throttle body gasket?

That pic where you labeled map sensor is supposed to be a nipple for the PCV valve.

here are possible problems I can think of:
Cruise control nipple on the back of the manifold (on the bottom left, if looking from the back of the IM) left unplugged.
Wrong or no gasket on the IM or TB (use gasket for the TB you're using, IE. y8 gasket for y8 TB)
IACV wire and TPS wire mixed up
Dirty IACV

sorry I meant PCV not ERG

so the PCV and the MAP need to be changed around on that picture?

the nipple on the back has been clsoed, I used a hose with a screw at the end
the TB gasket is a y8 gasket, looks like it fits fine

I am not sure which one is the IACV sensor, but since you say it could be swapped with the TPS, there's only 2 that look alike, both on the TB and I tried swapping them, and I just get a high idle, no bouncing around, just a high idle I think (I could try again and tell you if you need)

the Dirty IACV problem, wel the the TB was on my Y7 manifold and was working fine, the only thing differant is I sprayed some brake cleaner to clean it up, could that have damaged my sensor possibly?

Thanks a lot guys, keep em coming

oh i see so you have the IACV on the TB and not on the back of the intake manifold. Make sure those nipples you pugged as well as the air injection holes are fully covered and not leaking

I already see that the PCV and the Charcole are mixed up, gonna swap them when I start feeling a bit better (sick) and see what that does

I am uber positive I sealed the 4 holes, if I dont find a fix by the weekend I am going to take it off again and check again

this is driving me nuts

I think it doesn't really matter if you mix up these the fpr, pcv, charcoal cnister, they're all connected there for vaccuum anyways besides the sizes of the nipples to hoses are all different and only fit to one or another. Feel on the parts you sealed up, the back for the IACV, feel on everything... listen for hissing noises (possibly the o-rings on the injectors, the iacv holes you blocked off, cruise control, everything!) If all checks out then you might wanna recheck your air injection holes

if ti does need cleaning, take off the TB, it's 4 * 12mm bolts/nuts and use brake cleaner...that stuff is the bomb...cleans real well, dries real fast and leaves no film
