Default Remove fuse to make car theft proof?

Would it be possibe just to remove a fuse every night so that the car could not be hot wired? Does anybody know for sure if any fuse will make it totally impossible to start the car? Maybe something to the alternator or fuel pump or something like that? I would imagine that most car jackers wouldn't check the fuse box to make sure they are all there, or maybe even putting in a blown one so if they would look there wouldn't be any missing!

Well I'm not sure what to do. Any alarm can be overcome if they open the hood and start the car from the engine compartment, and they can hotwire the car from the inside to. Should I buy a hood lock or what else can I do? I just thought the fuse thing might confuse them, and the longer they sit there trying to start the car the better chance they have of getting caught.

This is the basic principle---IF SOMEONE WANTS YOUR CAR BAD ENOUGH, NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THEM FROM GETTING IT IMO any alarm over $50 is just a waste of money. Insure everything and if its stolen, thats what insurance is for.

There is one thing you can remove that make the car impossible to drive away.

I don't recommend it and it would get tiring every time.

it is called the BATTERY!!!!!

But if the theives know what you do they can easily bring another battery with them or tow it or something.

LOL!!!!!

If they are going to do all that, then they should get the car.

I think the point everyone is saying is that if they really want it, they will take it no matter what. There are ways we can't even dream of.

So all we can do is make it as difficult as possilbe for some. It's all psychological. If it makes you feel better to take a fuse out, do it. Just like The Club or an Alarm. It will stop some, it may slow others, or make no difference. There are no sure safe ways.

Doing things that are invisible (Like pulling a fuse) Only causes thieves to thrash your car more in their attempts to steal it.
Your better off putting in the club/pedal lock/ other things that are very obviously going to slow them down. This way their more likely to move on to a easier target.

It should be legal to wire about 4 lbs of C-4 to a anti-theft device. Not one that goes off when the wind blows but something that mhas a fail safe. Sure it would take your car out, but thats one less theif to be stealing cars. Hell losing your car would be worth that. I know it ain't gonna happen, but its nice to dream about.

You see that's why the idea was to remove the fuse when you get out of the car, and re-insert it when you get back in the car!!! It would only serve to disable something while your car is parked!

you guys have to remember that what's stopping a theif from putting the car on jacks and rolling it onto a truck bed...

done, car gone, alarm on/off making sound...who cares....club, fuse, battery..makes no difference.

And don't alarms (sound) go off after a certain amount of time anyways?

I think we all realize that if somebody wants the car bad enough they will get it, however these ideas will make it more difficult and thats the whole idea. By doing some of these tricks the average thief will have a hard time taking the car if he is just crusing around looking for a quick grab, most cars are not stoen on tow trucks!

sadly my friends integra GS...not gsr...4 door was stolen from her driveway while it was in FRONT of another car...tow truck steals happen alot up here in toronto/mississauga...i guess it's easier for the theif to do what they want with the car afterwards.

All i was trying to point out is, you also have to watch out for the simple things/methods that's all

I still think that this place http://www.arcotrac.com/ offers the best form of security. The only thing the other stuff does is slow a thief down, Could you imagine the look on the thiefs face when the cops show up at the location where the car is being stripped. I would love to see it. You car is trackable 24hrs a day anywhere in the United States.

NOTHING is going to stop a thief if they really want your car, my car had a very good LAYERED security system and when the car was stolen the other night i wasn't really suprised, frustrated yes, but not surprised. i think the car was towed and the only thing that could have prevented that was not driving the car and that was not an option. alarms only prevent against theives that are unexperienced. i suppose the $20,000 video system was the reason the car was taken...

Instead of pulling the battery is easier just to pull the plug wire on cyl1 so it wont start. How many thieves you know carries that??

take your ecu with you, its allot easier for a thief to walk around with various fuses than various ecu's

How true you are. Had an older car parked at home because it had no battery in it. Someone tried to steal it....discovered the battery was dead....went and got a battery and still stole the car. Thats just someting for you to think about cause if they want it bad enough they will get it.

ok... what about this: http://www.tekniqauto.com/US/home.htm

a removable steering wheel. The pins are different on each hub so nobody can just buy one and steal your car. What do you think tekken?

I haven't seen how that set up works but you can use two sets of vise grips to steer with.
Here is a link to what he is talking about.
