Default Supercharger on a JDM ITR motor?

Im thinking about going the supercharger route, but would 11.1 compression be too much for boost?

don't think so it's all in the tuning.

No not at all. JRsuperchargers and hondata collaborated for a very nice base map for an 11psi set up on an ITR motor. The test engine dynoed in the nieghborhood of 270whp and a massive torque curve.

Not to sound redundant, but yes, that'll be fine. Just get it tuned.

i am currently running 5.5psi with the JRSC on the US 10.6:1 motor and ill be installing my P28 obd1 ecu with larger injectors and a 9psi pulley in about a week and dyno tuning. high compression with the SC is not a problem if tuned well, just dont go over like 10-11 psi. I personally am too afraid to do the 11psi, so im sticking with the 9

anyone running the jackson racing high boost kit that comes with the pretuned hondata / injectors and the 6/9/11 pulleys? seems pretty good to me

i was origionally going to go that route, but decided to buy injectors, the pulley and ecu myself seperetely

costs a whole lot less to buy the **** yourself

jackson charges you like 500 bucks for just the tuning on their "pre-tuned" high boost system and not everyones car is the same

chances are your car will still need to be tuned because of different exhausts, header, cat, intake, there are lots of factors

plus the tune that jackson has preset is not safe IMHO

they have the vtec set to engage at WOT anytime your above 2500 rpms

i bought the basic JRSC kit with the 5.5psi pulley and i just ordered the 9 psi pulley, a p28 obd1 ecu, 400cc injectors...and im having it tuned end of the month

i paid 675 for the parts just orderd, and my tuner will tune the car for 75-100 he said

i saved 1100 in parts alone over jacksons "high boost" kit and i will save another hundred at minimum on the tuning

sweet,, the exact kind of response i was looking for.. are you running hondata?
Also, what were you running before you ordered the new injectors/pully/ecu? Just the FMU that jackson provides?

no im not running hondata, my tuner has a way to program obd1 even beyond what hondata is capable of

i wont have the new parts until the end of the month

as of right now

i am running the basic kit with just JR band aids

JR spark plugs
JR fuel pump
JR map controller
JR fuel pressure regulator
JR thermostat

but the car doesnt like it much, even with timing adjusted and such
the car will detonate if you boost out of vtec, in vtec is fine

oh BTW, you cant buy JUST the JRSC kit and expect to get anywhere with it

if you run the kit as-is, you wont have enough flow through a stock ITR exhaust system to hear or feel vtec engage and the car will detonate

if you plan to supercharge the car, i recommend, upgrading the header, cat, exhaust, clutch and flywheel and a SHORT ram intake

i chewed my stock clutch and fly apart in just a few weeks with all the torque the SC adds

just to show you how crutial it is to upgrade this stuff...

when i slapped the basic JR kit on my completely stock R, i went from running a 14.72 at 94, 1/4 mile to running a 14.62 at 95 1/4 mile

the clutch was slipping, and there wasnt enough flow to allow vtec to work correctly

right now at 5.5 psi, with just the above mentioned parts

i ran a 14.05 1/4 mile and i beat srt-4's on the highway, lol

when i get the car tuned on 9 psi with new injectors and such

im hoping for low 13's

but anyway, i gotta go to work, PM if u want

but from my experience, i wouldnt do the SC unless you have the money to do it the right way from the start, it's not worth the damage on the engine you will do if you do it wrong

but the SC is nice in a sense that there arent spikes like with a turbo, there is NO lag, like a turbo, the power is smooth and linear, dyno graph looks like stock with more power

sorry, we're kinda hijacking this thread

but yea, i never really planned on just running the JRSC w/ just it's piggybacks cause they're just not good IMO. I've been looking into the supercharging route for the last few days cause i'm wanting a little more power and low end response and the more i think about it, i don't want to tear into my motor and do the whole piston/valvetrain setup. I want to keep it down to a bolt on affair. I'd go turbo but in my experience it's too much of a hassle and too expensive to get it setup properly and reliably. Definatly gonna upgrade my clutch/flywheel here soon (my clutch is weakening anyways) and get a header/cat-back. We'll see where i go after that. Azcheron, can you post pics of your engine bay or e-mail them to me if you don't want them posted?
