Power Steering Hose Broke! Can I Weld It Back Together?
Well, my power steering hose broke. the part that connect from the rack to the pump. the part that bolts up to the pump. the metal snapped because it was in a wierd position.
Is it possible to weld the hose back? i have a mig welder
thanks everyone!

I'm presuming it broke in the metal part...
Yes, you can weld it back. You will probably need to cut it completely apart at the crack. Then clean it inside to get out any oils. Then put it together and weld it. You'll have to make sure not to have any leaks PRIOR to putting it back into use, because you will have hell fixing a leak after you have fluid in it.

first ask urself why it broke? i mean that seems kind of wierd to me. yea you could probably weld it back togehter, but i think that high pressure hose is only like 110 bucks from honda its not too hateful, whats it worth to you, a day project or a 20 minute project lol
it broke because i had it twisted around funny. i swapped an H22A in my accord using a '96 prelude power steering bracket so i could utilize my stock pump and hose. i didnt fit it so good so it broke. now i have the stock motor in and there's not way it will break to pressure now...
thanks for the reply guys

looks like that h22 is still in there. and the power steering lines and pump don't match up in first place. i'm amazed you got it to work at all, that's a first.
You have to "BRAZE" that line. and be careful not to get it to hot or the rubber hose will melt loose of that fitting. That's what happened to me and i haven't had PS since. Driving w/o PS is better imo. You have better control of the car, it's just a bitch when the car is not moving.

do you read? I DO NOT HAVE THE H22 IN THERE ANY MORE... and no it's not a first. that pic is just for reference smart guy...
why dont the lines and pump match up? it's a fucken accord pump with an accord line... duh? using a 96 PS bracket from an H22A1 will work with the pump and hose. i just had the hose twisted wrong, i could've prevented it so just shhhhhhh.

Ok ok, so reading ownz me lol. I apologize if i came off like an ******* there.
I'd say your easiest bet would be to hit up a local salvage yard and get a whole new line. You can easily weld this yes, but when i attempted to do that it heated up the line so much that the rubber melted loose from the fitting. So if you do weld it, then go slow. Or just pick up a new line from a salvage yard.
P.S. is your engine bay covered in ps fuild yet? man that **** would not stop coming out. took about a week for all that fluid to stop coming out. man was i a stupid ricer 2 years ago lol.

Already answered in my post above. I could see it happening.
You may be able to fix it, but welding something like that, with oil on or in it, is likely not going to work....and I mean even with a pretty experienced welder. Oil is one of the worst things in a weld...worse than paint.
You may be best off to just cut it back apart while you will only lose the width of a hack saw blade. Clean it inside, then weld it again, being more careful or maybe gobbing a few layers on it.
When you make multiple passes on something, NEVER let the stops/starts of your second pass be in the same place as on the first pass.
