Default 97 prelude IDELS REAL HIGH I NEED HELP

Whats up, i had bought a prelude, it had an injector that leaked gas and reved real high at like 6,000 RPM'S.. I changed the gaskets in the injector and stoped the leak but the car still idles real high what can cause the lude to idle so high? Could it be the idle sensor? or are there any things you guys have seen with this problem?

I also need a good mechanic around CT area, to do an engine swap for me, post here and let me know your skills....

Sounds like you got a pretty bad vacuum leak. Get some carb cleaner or brake cleaner and with the car running, spray it around the intake manifold areas. If the idle changes where you sprayed, then you found your leak.

check to make sure the throttle cable is not too tight, othan that, i could only image the idle sensor is bad, a vacuum leak won't cause the idle to go that high

actually a vacuum leak can make the idle go that high. i had a vacuum hose come off, and then end up tearing after being put back on, and both times it was causing my car to idle at 4k RPM and higher.

Id check:
vacuum lines (of course)
throttle cable
idle set screw
idle air valve (you can disconnect with the engine running, if it smooths out that is your problem.....P.S. its a $240 part)

It might also be your fast idle valve (under the TB) or your throttle position sensor (TPS). The TPS sensor can also be unplugged with the engine running to test if it smooths out (this will throw a code, which will reset once you reconnect the sensor)

Good luck! Its probably one of these things I mentioned. I delt with idle problems for some time and know the system inside and out.

idle set screw is at the top of ur throttle body
idle air control valve is across from your fuel rail
fast idle thermal valve is located underneath ur tb
tps is the sensor attached to ur tb facing the fire wall
