alright... im going to do it...

Background: Three months ago I let my sister drive my car, and she hit a parked car with it. The front end was damaged, so I decided to do a 99-00 front end conversion on it. I picked up the whole front end for $150, but all the parts didnt match. I thought I was ok with it, but its starting to drive me nuts. So i got a coupon in the mail for Maaco, and i thought it was steal, but after weeks of debating, Ive decided to go with a DIY yourself job.
So heres my question: Im ordering from paintscratch.com, i know they are good site, ive read only great reviews on them.
BUT
1. How much paint should i order? I was thinking a gallon. Will that be enough to paint my whole car?
2. The rest of my car, except fenders and hood have decent paint on them still, should I order primer to repaint the whole car? I just donw want to have my fenders and hood be chippin if I use different type of paint from primer.
3. And for clear coat, Is one gallon enough to to have two coats of clear? And how thick should one coat be anyway?
Im planning on ordering the paint soemtime next week, and start the following weekend. Until then im going to be find tutorials and reading some books on how to paint, so be expect a FULL write up on this. Ill be taking pictures every step of the way! haha so if you guys can help me out now, thatd be great.
Do your first job on a shitty 82 volkswagen, not a new car you're going to drive because it's about 95% likely to come out shitty with tons of orange peel, and make a maaco job look show quality.

I agree, we did my dad's old Ford P/u in our garage w/ a buddy of mine who works at a body shop. Let's just say that it was good from afar, but far from good.

my rear bumper had a crack in it.. so when I did the front end conversion, i figured i might as well do the rear bumper too.
what about me just painting the hood and the fenders? i dont think that should be too hard... i had my doubts about the WHOLE car, but I think im capable of doing the hood and fenders.

^^^^agreed. Painting is not the easiest of things to do, i'd pratice on something that isn't of value first then make up your mind.
