Default Anyone's ACT clutch ever mess up there tranny quick? (SOHC)

I just recently installled my act xtss (sprung) clutch on my d16z6. I have a newer y8 tranny I installed and after about 3 months of driving on the combo, my tranny just took a **** on me. Should of my clutch ate the tranny up this quick? It's sprung and I shift pretty good so I thought it was going to last me a good while. Im about to put another y8 tranny in but dont want the same thing to happen. The funny thing is within those 3 months my car was NA so there shouldnt be much of a strain on this tranny. Plus there where no sighn's of this tranny going out. All of a sudden one day POP! I dont know let me know if anyone has any advice or similar experiences. Thanks in advance! -Nick

i went thru 4 trannys in my sohc with ACT set ups, i think the problem is that the clutch an pressure plate is too much lock up for the tranny, i mean if you start bullet proofing the next weakest thing will always go, but usually on DOHCs its axles not trannys.

so in short yes i had the same problem

I'm with this guy. I've had my ACT clutch for 4ish years, it's been through 5 turbo set ups, tons of drag racing, auto-x, track days, etc. etc. And it STILL has some meat on the disc when I changed engines (the 3rd time). It's held way more torque than it was designed for and has never given me a problem. When it does wear out, I'm buying the same clutch again

have ran ACT in both of my Civics and now absolutely hatem!! The HDSS is ok for your normal mildly modifed engines. Had no troubles with that. On my H22 Civic though I am running the XTSS. I hate it!! The engagement is so hard. The shock destroys my driveshafts and my tranny. Already killed an H22 tranny in 8,000 miles, and going for driveshaft number 3!!!! These clutches suck!!! Of course my foot does as well. the drivetrain shock is too great for a daily abused car IMO.
