umm

Do you mean pinging? What you described sounds like pinging

premium unleaded usually takes care of that, otherwise you'll have to the timing done.

My cars sounds like that too, but mine does it only when in gear so I belive mine problem is transmission related.

Your problem may also be transmision related which would explain why your speed sensor is also not working.

I'm currently looking for a good price on a used front clip.

I'm experiencing the same thing. Unfortunately my head gasket didn't seat right, so I'm not driving it and thus unable to completely diagnose the problem.

This I do know though:
I had my tranny rebuilt because I thought it was a tranny bearing. They found a bad needle bearing, so I thought problem solved. I put the tranny in and it still does it and my VSS is no longer working (it was before the rebuild), so I pull out the VSS to discover it's in 3 PIECES. The shaft that the gear is on broke (I assume that's what broke first to cause the initial problems) then the outer shell broke too. Luckily I had a spare, so I put it in, speed readings are back, but it still does it, though not nearly as much as before. I checked the busted VSS and all the breaks match up, so I know I don't have any broken bits of VSS bouncing around in my tranny, so I'm still trying to figure out what is making the noise. For me it happens during low rpm torque pulls and high rpm acceleration.

see today i was going up hill and was in 4th gear and was flooring it at about 3k rpm up to 5k rpm and it did not do it all day today... parked the car for about 20 min went to work and on the freeway in 5th trying to pass a car it did it to me started making the noise again..

took the car to ammco today to look at it they are a bunch of idiots and will not give me a stright answer, said to tear it apart it would be 800 bucks.

called R1 Motor sports out off the 10 freeway and new ave and the guy there said he would do it for 450 add 20 bucks to replace clutch and 350ish for a stage 2 clutch and i would be set.

got my cousin calling a friend he knows to look at my tranny and he said 250-300 bucks but the job is labor intensive and is around 800 bucks in labor. so im all confused at what needs to be done on my tranny.

but the noise im getting in the car ramond from R1 said it was pinging and that he would check the h22 out for me to see if he could find out whats wrong with it. so i gotta go there tomorrow to find out whats the issue.
