Wheel grinding/humming
I have a 01 accord dx 4 cyl w/ 81k miles. I've noticed this noise coming from the front driverside wheel for a while now but is seems to be getting worse. At first I thought it was just noise coming from the tires but now I know that it is something more seriuos. While driving from 60-80mph I get some shimmying at the streering wheel. We've had the tires rotated and balanced and it's still there. And while I'm braking, The noise is hard to explain but when I am coming to a stop its sort of a hum with a little bit of a grind and a whine, I changed the brake pads last week. They seemed to be worn evenly. (the inner a little more than the outer.)I drove my 91 civic to over 200K mile and never had this problem. Any suggestions I've read through the archives but it really dosn't match 1 particular item. The CV joint still look new, the boots are in excellent condition. Wheel bearing? Ball joint?transmission output shaft? please help.
First thing I would do is check your power steering fluid level...that could make a sound similar to what you described but it's more than likely wheel bearing.
