short shifter hitting heat shield
installed a shifter and it hits the heat shield when going into fifth and reverse, i have stock DX piping on my 97 civic, so its not the cat that is under the shifter assembly but just a section of the piping with a small heat shield on it.
what should i do? take it off, or have it trimmed? any other suggestions or experiences?

the shifter will get warm but you learn quickly to be careful
can you pull the heat shield down away from the shifter any?? if so i would do that

Well, all aftermarket cat-backs wont have the heatsheild on it, and usually hangs low enough to clear short shifters.
I just pulled on my hangers, or adjusted the hanger so the exhaust would hang lower, but now that I have a custom cat-back its not a problem.

i tried spraying the hanger with silicone spray and pulling on it, but it wouldnt move... still dont know what to do
i really dont wanna go to a muffler shop or something so they can fiddle with it, still trying to look for alternate ways.

my short shifter used to ratle like a mother ****** cause it wouldd bang on the exhaust. The Greddy Downpipe lowered it enough so that it no longer hits. Obviously enough the rattling only occured when i was NA.
It was a pain in the ***.
But now i have motor mounts and everything rattles
