Default 10:1--->9:1 Using Headgasket to lower compression ???s

Im in a situation where i decided to return my 10:1 CP pistons for 9:1's but CP will not return them. So I can either try and sell the 10:1's and purchase the 9:1's, or use a headgasket to lower a full point.

What are your opinions of this? Its a 81mm benson block, stepped deck. Would it be safe to run thicker headgasket from Cometic?

Don't listen to the parade of people that are about to come in and harp the benefits of high compression, because they're basically nonexistant. A .075" cometic gasket will take your compression right down to 9:1, and will be fine. I don't think i'd run that if I had plans to push 30+ pounds of boost into the motor, but for a street/strip car it's enough.

This is gonna be a big boost setup... 500whp ish , Id definitely rather sell these and get the 9:1's, but it hasnt been that easy lol...

I, personally, would feel comfortable pushing 500 WHP on a thicket head gasket. I saw the SFWD in your sig and thought you might be going for like 650+, in which case I would go with a smaller gasket.

If i cant get rid of the pistons in the next week or so, Im just gonna keep them and run a low boost ~ 350 whp pump gas tune. I think with a nice electronic controller i can run a smaller spring and still be able to crank the boost on race gas.
