Default Random Vtec Cel

I got a question for you guys about my car and its random vtec cel. I'd say about 1 out of 4 times while driving my car at normal speed 60 - 75 it throws the vtec cell. 9 out of 10 times i can shut my car off for 30sec or so and it's gone, but its annoying. Was wondering what could be causing the problem? Oil level is always checked and is fine, i've taken it apart to make sure the screen was clean and it is.

Not sure on the code, I can never remember to leave the car running when i get home to check it. I'm sure its either 21 or 22 as seeing the vtec shuts off. The ecu is a p28.

you can shut the car off and still get the code. just jump the 2 pin connector and turn the key to the on (but not started) position. P28 looks for vtec solenoid at A4, and pressure switch at D6. You don't have a pressure switch ground on p28, it grounds to the chassis. Make sure you have a good ground (I grounded mine to the head when I had a p28), and make sure the other wires are at the correct pinout. If you checked all of this and cleaned the screen, then you have faulty wires or sensors. I still think it's in the ground though.

That sounds right, never thought about the p28 not having a pressure switch ground. I found the ground and its all wrapped up with the other wires. Would be be safe to tap into and with another wire and ground it that way? Or otherwise?

on a p72 or p13 it grounds to A26. This will work on a p28 too, but its not necessary.
