what to do with my engine?
i have a d16a6 with 172k miles on it... it burns both oil and coolant at a feverish rate. pretty sure the headgasket is the culprit and am wondering if i should do a d16z6 swap and convert to OBD-1, save and go b16, or get a new headgasket and hope it solves the problem. do you think changing the headgasket would fix this? if it will fix it i'd love to turbo this engine but i'm not sure it would be in good enough shape even with a new headgasket. what do you guys think?? i'm not sure its even worth spending the time and money on switching the headgasket if it won't fix this...
well, if you do the work yourself, its not too expensive
heres the money i payed to do a headgasket on an a6
headgasket, $40 bucks
intake man. gasket 12
exhaust man. gasket 12
i didn't need it, but a head machined is 40 bucks.
also, i know you're supposed to change head bolts, but its a beater motor, and the dealer here rapes people at 13 bucks a bolt. 6 months later, it seems to still run...

I have a d15b2 and im going to rebuild a z6 solid, so i can turbo it. If you have the money for a b-swap, go for it. But I think it's more fun tuning an underdog motor.
