Default 98 GSR tranny not shifting at all *editied*

edit*4/20/05* with the car OFF the clutch pedal feels normal and u can shift the tranny though all the gears. turn the car ON the pedal feels like there is nuthin there and u cant put the car in any of the gears. replaced clutch master & slave cylinder. bled the lines and still nuthin. i dont understand how this can happen. im tryin to do everything i can before havin to pull out the tranny.

(friday) its my gf's car! she says the car is not shiftin right its not scaping. I say its because she dont let it warm up enough but whatever. what are you guys running in your trannys and how do u like it? the car hasn't been abused that bad!! I know u can use GM synchomesh, or the honda stuff but i hear that pennzoil has sumthin do u any of u guys or girls know what that is and or where i can get it.

(saturday)*edit* new problem i drove a lil while ago and the tranny does not grind when u shift its just hard to get it in gear!! its like you have to push harder then normal when ur granny shiftin. on top of that it stutters when with go to take in 1st or in reverse but its not the motor! it feels like its in the tranny. the car has 100,000 miles on it and like i said before it hasnt been drivin hard, it hasnt been to the track either just sum mild street action. stock clutch & fly it just has a short shifter.

well I would go with the honda transmission fluids, eventhough you can use the same oil you use for your engine on the tranny just to be safe go straight to exactly honda wanted used in the tranny. I've used Castrol full synthetic and lucos but when in doubt go back to stock. Hopefully its not your synchros....

none synthetic 30 wieght works good my third gear would click at high rpm shifting i put that in with a little bit of gm syncromesh and it cured it.

start with replacing the transmission fluid, and see how it feels. I run the GM syncromesh, but I it is too thin of a fluid. I would try the Honda MTF, and see how it feels. The syncromesh only helped my grinding issue, did not feel smother. You did not say that your GF's car had a grinding issue, so syncromesh is probably not needed anyway.

The stutter that you refered too could be that the motor mounts have been warn out. If the car seems to have wheel hop in 1st and reverse thats what it could be.

i think that the problem you refer to being hard to put it in gear may be your clutch disc going bad.

Integras use 2.3 quarts of transmission fluid. I used all GM synchromesh in mine but I have heard of other people mixing like 1 or 2 quarts w/ honda MTF.

just use Honda MTF. honda gearboxes, factory, are known to be some of the best gearboxes on the planet as far as feel goes. Ferarri engineers even envy Honda manual transmission shift feel.

You have a lot of areas to examine: Motor mounts(for the shuttering), clutch(gear engagement), and you just may have worn internals like the shift forks and selectors that will also give you gear engagement issues. Go from the easiest to the hardest
