Default A little CRX clutch funny business?

Hey guys,
On my way back from the FSAE shop tonight I was in fifth gear rolling up to a stop light. I put in the clutch and went to slide it into fourth but it wouldnt go, into any gear even. So I stopped at the stop light and it was really hard to force to shifter into gear, like it took a good amount of pressure and revving it to get it in there. Then when I would try ot leave the light it would just die on me. So i put it into nuetral and when I would release the clutch it would just die. I eventually slipped it into third and it would start rollingforward a little and then after that i slipped it in first and it was fine. The clutch engaged really high after that though and I know you can adjust it but I am curious as to what might have caused this so it's something I can fix. Thanks a lot for any input you guys have. My only guess is that it might have gotten stuck in fifth but i dont know what that would happen, shift linkage maybe? As far as the car goes its a stock D16A6 with a stock clutch. The shifter is a dc sports shot shift kit with poly busings. Thanks guys,
Matt

sounds like a clutch or tranny problem. this sort of thing happened with my friends tranny, turned out a gear broke off his final drive and jammed it up in there. you weren't beating on the car beforehand, were you?

when that happened to us we were in the same gear, same speed, but about 2 hours before we were trying to see how fast we could get the car. little did we know the tranny had a slight leak and it was low on oil... try draining your tranny and seeing if its got 2 quarts of oil in it like its supposed to.
