I don't know if it will fit simply by taking out the old one and putting the new one in, but I doubt it. However, you can simply/easily make a spacer out of MDF and it will fit no problem.

MDF ring, if the diam. is way off, then you will have to replace the OEM speaker mount with a custom MDF one, the speaker will sound better mounted to the MDF anyway. 94

since you brought up the spacer rings again, it looks like ill be keeping my car... So i might be doing the MDF versus plastic switch soon. Ill need to put 6.5 inch diameter MDF rings in there... problem is, Im not entirely too sure how I am supposed to mount the MDF to the door metal..

Do I just drill some metal screws through the MDF into the door? (with some sort of glue or vibration absorbing gasket between the metal and wood) And then drill in some wood screws at a slightly shifted position into the MDF for the speaker to hold on to? How can I be sure that the first connection to the door will hold and not shake or break off?

Ohhhh ok, I get it, just like what used to hold the 6x9s in the rear of a civic... My 2000 model doesn't have those in the door, at least for the speakers... It is . I think 3 screws around the speaker that hold into the door, and then there are holes I made myself in the cup that holds the speakers... the OEM speaker screw holes were not lining up.. so I just drilled into the plastic myself...

So basically, get a big enough MDF board to fit into the holes that the door panel gets screwed into... with the same shape so it fits when it is cut out... then just make sure that that peice is thick enough, or add other spacers onto it, screwed in, just the size of the speaker... and then drill the speaker screws into that... just in a way that it isnt going into the other screws... ... so if I use the stock holes, it will hold the speaker huh? I was wondering since the speaker is held by the inner door skin... if 3 screws would be enough to hold the wood and speakers... since the door skin is held in place by much more than that.
